Q. What was deciding today in your favor for the match?
JEREMY CHARDY: I don't know. I decided tactic before the match. Since the first point to the last point, I play exactly the same. I stay very calm, very focus. That's why I win today.
Q. Is that your biggest success so far?
JEREMY CHARDY: I beat Murray last year in Cincinnati.
But here it's something more because Australian Open, third round, I play a top player. It's a big win for me. And maybe the best of my career.
Q. How does it feel?
JEREMY CHARDY: I'm so happy. I just finished my match. But I just so happy, I enjoyed it.
Q. You played terrific in the first and second sets. In the third set when you lost the tiebreak, you said you stayed calm. Did you feel maybe he was going to come back into the game?
JEREMY CHARDY: No, I don't want to think because if I start to think I lose for sure.
I just focus on my tactic. I was two set to one up, so I just have to continue my game. I did it, so... It was a good idea.
Q. What was your tactic today?
JEREMY CHARDY: My tactic was very simple: I play slice with my backhand and I try to play short slice because like this he has to come in the court. After, with my forehand, I can go full power, so...
It was nothing else (laughter).
Q. Were you worried in the third and fourth sets he would be more confident for the fifth set?
JEREMY CHARDY: I don't know. I have a chance on every set, so... It was very near every set. Yeah, I don't know. Every set I can win the set. I just have to stay focus on my game. When I get chance in the last one, I take it, so... That's it.
Q. French players are becoming the story of this tournament. There's guaranteed to be four in the fourth round now. Is there any secret as to why French tennis is going so well at the moment?
JEREMY CHARDY: I don't know. We have a lot of good player. I think everybody start to play well this year. So I don't know. I don't know what is the thing.
But we just play good. Maybe everybody win, so we want to fight more. I don't know.
Q. Do you think one of the French players can go farther now and maybe even win?
JEREMY CHARDY: Which one?
Q. I don't know.
JEREMY CHARDY: I don't know. Maybe me. I don't know (smiling).
Q. Is it maybe for you easier to play not in front to have such a success compared to if you are playing in Roland Garros?
JEREMY CHARDY: I love to play in Roland Garros. Always my family and my friend to come to watch my game in Roland Garros. I always enjoy it.
I already play very good in French Open. So is still my best tournament. I don't know. I mean, maybe I will play better this year.
